The sun was warm on his back, on his feathers, blank orbs slid shut as he glided over the earth below. Feeling the breeze drag it's claws through his coat, lazily he beat his wings. Opening those orbs of molten fire he craned his sleek head down, watching his shadow flying below him over the grass. It had taken him days of flying and sleep to reach this area yet once he had, it was all worth it. Tall audits swiveled as he spied a herd of deer running, far enough ahead that none saw him, yet. A dark grin spread across the male's jaw, angling down he pulled in his wings and fell to earth. Squinting his eyes he kept the wind from scaring up his orbs, as the ground grew closer he snapped out his wings again, then pulled them back in. He did this a few more times before his paws touched the earth and even then he was running. Long lithe legs carrying him as fast as he could sprint, slowing down his tall frame sank down amongst the grass and crawled towards the herd that had slowed down to graze.
Broad chest heaving he watched with bated breath, his keen eyes picking out a sick buck. His ears pinned back against his head noticing the size of its antlers, he will be needing his wings for this. As much as his claws, fangs, antlers, and legs. Creeping to the side he started to crawl, he was also careful of where to step. Given his size and color it was impressive he managed to get this close, he wove his way carefully through the herd. It wasn't even dusk yet and this was too dangerous, flattening his ears he pressed himself even more into the earth. Once he was before the sick deer he felt the fire in his blood stir. Parting his jaws he hissed and felt a small ember roll past his lips, licking his jaws he parted them more and felt the heat build more. Breathing in he exhaled long and soft, and that's all it took. The fire that rolled free was fierce, the scream of the deer as the flames licked at its face suddenly caught the entire heard off guard. Snarling he spread his wings and lept into the air faster than the herd could scatter, the beating of his wings spread the flames and added to the fire. Soon the flats were ablaze, grinning he hovered in the air watching the herd run. His eyes stayed glued on the sick bull he saw from above, watching with interest he started flying after it as it began to run away in terror.
